Dale M. Cann – Executive Bio

Dale Cann is a proven leader with substantial expertise gained from years of interacting with and supporting key senior level positions. Working directly with the President, Board Executive, Board of Directors, and senior staff, he has been instrumental in setting overall organizational policies and priorities of several companies to maximize productivity and profitability. Dale is comfortable working directly with all levels of personnel and has had responsibility for the performance of all departmental functions – operations, manufacturing, distribution, administration, accounting, human resources, safety, engineering, customer support, sales, marketing, legal, public relations, communications, etc.

Most recently, Dale has been working on a merger to transition three family-owned businesses into one entity because no family members are interested in assuming a leadership role when the presiding management retires. The sale of one of the businesses was successfully negotiated recently to a larger company.

Prior to this, Dale was President of a manufacturing plant which employed over 70 workers and had over 100,000 square feet of manufacturing space and multiple production lines. In addition to the day-to-day responsibilities of a senior manager, Dale often traveled internationally to acquire production equipment and negotiate raw material purchases. One of his many professional accomplishments was Dale’s success establishing a LLC company, and serving on its Board, with the sole purpose of consolidated purchasing and contract bidding with other companies, some of which were competitors, to reduce overall cost and increase profitability. The sensitive nature of this consolidated purchasing venture required Dale to work directly with a federal anti-trust department and legal counsel to assure its successful launch and continuation.

Tasked with providing leadership through start-up, growth, and turnaround situations, Dale repeatedly proved his ability to deliver strong and sustained results. Working closely with in-house accountants to identify precise overhead costs, Dale developed and implemented a marginal pricing initiative within a strategic product mix to attract large business contracts previously unattainable. Overall quality and customer satisfaction improved dramatically as he established standardized procedures and employed periodic reviews among all departments to achieve ISO Certification.

During highly stressful situations within both corporate and legislative environments, Dale remained a firm, clear, and consistent force. He served on the Board of Directors of an industry trade association to promote industry products and maintain awareness of potentially harmful Federal and State regulations. He worked closely with trade lobbyists in Washington D.C. and met with senators, congressmen, and top administration officials several times to secure a tariff exemption for offshore material purchases. Instrumental in establishing a task force within an industry trade coalition, Dale was selected to represent his industry and testify before a Senate Hearing Committee regarding damaging import tariffs. Afterwards, the Bush Administration agreed with Dale’s testimony and reversed its previous position of imposing tariffs on select imported industry products.

In addition to being recognized as an industry innovator in a global publication, Dale has authored and co-authored several op-ed articles of which some have been carried in major media outlets.

As a Business Advisor for PKD Consulting, Dale presently provides strategic support to senior managers across a broad spectrum of businesses and industries throughout the United States and foreign countries.
